Dubrovnik International ESEE Mining school – DIM ESEE 2017 was held from November 20th to 25th 2017 in the Inter-University Centre in Dubrovnik with the participation of international experts for primary and secondary raw materials in the ESEE region.
The total number of participants amounted to 39 from 9 European countries (Austria, Finland, Croatia, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia and Ukraine), as well as 8 lecturers from University of Zagreb, Montanuniversität Leoben and Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute. Besides the lecturers, the School hosted prominent speakers from European Institute of Innovation & Technology, DG Environment, IMA Europe, the Industrial Minerals Association – Europe and Croatian Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts.
The goal of this year’s School was to improve participants’ knowledge and skills that could enhance the competitiveness of the mining engineers on the labor market. The topics covered were related to the fields of circular economy and zero waste management – how to preserve natural resources, how to reuse industrial waste in the civil engineering sector and how to minimize the negative effects on the environment.
